Changing Your Perspectives

We must change our perspective in order to see God's presence.

Romans 12:2

"Do not conform to the ways of the world, rather, be renewed by the transformation of the mind."

  • 1 and 9 are missing
  • Where should they go, and why?

Answer: This line is in alphabetical order

Eight, eleven, Fifteen, Five, Four, Fourteen,Nine, One, Seven, Six, Ten, Thirteen, Three, Twelve, Two

It isn't a mathematical equation, rather a perspective equation. By looking at it as numbers alone, you would never be able to answer the question, but by looking at it as words, you can clearly see where the number should go.

Situations in life can be thought of in a similar way.

We tend to go through our days not really thinking about God or His presence in all things, it's a human flaw. We constantly face circumstances and challenges all day, everyday. These can be rather difficult and we try to face it with our own brains and strength, forgetting that we have God's perfect power on our side at all times. By taking up these challenges on our own, we tend to over exert ourselves and fall into a negative mental attitude, this makes following challenges even harder.

But life with the acknowledgment of God's presence is like a rose bush. We can see the thorns on the stems, but on top of that is a beautiful flower, seeing this makes your forget all about how painful the thorns can be. The Thorns are the challenges in our lives and the flower is God's presence in our lives. There are roses, yes, and lots of thorns. However, when we work at becoming more aware of God’s presence, the more we can find God’s grace even in difficulties and frustrations. The difficulty of it melts away and we are filled with peace and understanding that what is about to happen is placed in front of us to bring us closer to God.

  • Can you think of a time in your life when the awareness of God has made a difference?
  • Think about aspects in your life that have been least rewarding to you. How might you experience these differently if you acknowledged God's presence?

-Take away Challenge-

When you're faced with an unpleasant moment, try to stop, breathe, and look for God's presence and see what changes.

God, thank you for being present in every part of life. Thank you for being  there for everyone at school, watching over them, guiding them. Thank you for being with us in good times and hard times.

Help us, Lord, to remember your presence in every place in our lives. I pray that, by your grace, we might sense that you are with us, but especially in times of great challenge.

In you name we pray, Amen.
